Artwork basics / AI2VINYL

Does a vehicle wrap need to be entirely vector?

No. Clean vectors are valuable for logos and lettering, but suitable raster imagery can be part of a professional wrap file.

Use vectors where edges must stay precise

Vector paths describe geometry instead of a fixed pixel grid. They are useful for logos, type, stripes and other clean shapes. They also make editing and some cutting workflows easier. Converting a blurry logo with automatic tracing can create rough paths rather than recover the original design.

Use raster images where the content calls for them

Photographs, painted effects and detailed textures are usually raster assets. They need enough usable detail at their actual printed dimensions. A raster image placed in Illustrator does not become vector just because the surrounding document is an AI, EPS or PDF file.

Judge quality at the real output size

Resolution depends on the final dimensions and the scale at which the document is built. A nominal DPI value alone does not establish quality. Viewing distance, image detail, printing method and the producing shop’s specification all matter. Ask the shop for its requirement rather than applying one number to every job.

Request deliverables that match the job

Explain whether the work is for printing, contour cutting, editing or a combination. A print-ready PDF and editable source files serve different purposes. AI2VINYL can review the supplied assets and quote the appropriate redraw or preparation; it cannot recover genuine detail that never existed in a small source image.
